The Asthma and Allergies Center was launched to free patients from chronic diseases that have long been known to be hard to cure - asthma and allergies. Asthma and allergies are known to be influenced largely by environmental factors, so potential to change is inherent. Therefore, management and prevention are as important as treatment. Early detection of asthma to start treatment early and stop the progression of the disease are the mission of Sanggye Paik Hospital's Asthma and Allergies Center, and also what is most-needed by the patients who are suffering from asthma. Also, another mission and goal of our project is to expand the international exchange to consistently develop and change to keep up with patients' expectations.
The Asthma and Allergies Center has established coordinated care with pulmonology, chest surgery, and dermatology with Director Kim Chang Geun, a specialist in pediatric asthma and allergies. The Asthma and Allergies Center located on the 7th floor of Sanggye Paik Hospital is composed of 18 wards and an outpatient clinic, examination rooms, and an allergy supplies store. The allergy supplies store displays portable pulmonary function testing devices, nebulizer, treatment tools related to asthma such as respiratory therapy apparatus, more than 15 types of atopic dermatitis medication, allergy prevention blankets and pillow covers which are readily available for anyone to see the products and purchase.
