Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Center in Haeundae Paik Hospital

Since its establishment in March, 2010, the Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital has been equipped with superior treatment systems focused on cooperative treatment and has gradually established specialized centers. The Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transport Center also opened as a part of the development. In the beginning of July, the axenic building with a Clean 100 HEPA Filter/ LAF room for 4 people opened on the 12th floor of building B. Later in the field inspection of Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service conducted in mid-July, it was approved as a Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transport Center to take effect from Sept. 1st.

Professor Joo Young-don of the Haeundae Paik Hospital Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transport Center has successfully performed over 200 bone marrow transplants on aplastic anemia patients and both acute and chronic leukemia patients. Based on a wealth of clinical experience, autologous bone marrow has been transplanted to intractable hematologic malignancies such as malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma, enabling better service and synthesized medical treatment. It has reduced the need for patients in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam to travel to Seoul or abroad for bone marrow transplants. The organization of this center is strongly supported by professional medical teams in hematology & oncology, pediatric hematology-oncology, radiation oncology, infectious disease, and laboratory medicine, in addition to other experts like advanced oncology practice nurses, clinical nurse specialists, anticancer-specialized pharmacists, peripheral hematopoietic stem cell sampling operators, freezing operators, social workers, and more. Every detailed plan concerning bone marrow transplants is discussed with patients and their families a few weeks before starting treatment. All team members meet to share progress with families, as an exemplary model of open treatment with families.

The Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transport Center strives to provide trustworthy hematopoietic stem cell transport through interaction with Seoul Asan Hospital, and Japan's Kyushu University Hospital, in support of the dreams, hope and courage of patients.
