This
center offers treatment for all spinal disorders, including
malformation, cervical spinal disc, scoliosis, fracture,
tumor, inflammation and such. The center is renowned for
treating patients with badly bent spines (scoliosis, kyphosis,
lordosis).
The method of operation on spine malformation was pioneered
by Dr. Se-Il Suk, reputed not only in Korea but also throughout
the world. The medical staff, led by Dr. Se-Il Suk, first
used screw nails for spines on scoliosis and in 1997,
they went ahead with developing the resection technique
on serious cases of spine transformation. Dr. Seok is
a recognized leader in the field of spinal correction
through screw nails correction. Many eminent professors
around the world visit the center every year to see the
surgical procedures. The average number of out-patients
amounts to 1,000 a month and 50 operations are performed
every month.

Services
available at the Epilepsy Center of Sanggye Paik Hospital
include high-quality MRI examination for precise detection
of epileptic foci in the cerebrum. Other functional MRI
tests, MR Spectroscopy tests, and SPECT tests are used
for detection of various kinds of epilecptic lesions which
remained intractable.
Also, new therapies, such as ketogenic dietary therapy,
epilepsy surgery, use of new anti-convulsion, and vagus
nerve stimulus therapy are being constantly introduced
or tested. In particular, ketogenic dietary therapy, is
said to have completely soothed convulsions in 27 out
of 49 infant patients with incurable epilepsy or at least
reduced the consulsions by more than 90%.

| Dr. Byeong-Du Lee, head of
Diabetes Clinic, is the doctor who originally established
the Korean diabetes model in Korea, by measuring antibodies
of self-immuning diabetes. He gives life hope to a number
of patients suffering from diabetes by developing treatment
and diagnosis methods that are appropriate to Korean people.
Also, in the clinic, the Diabetes Education Team, made
up of endocrinal metabolism physicians, nurses who exclusively
take charge of diabetes programs as well as nutritionists,
physical therapist, and pharmacists, provide diabetes
programs once a week. There are two types of diabetes
education programs: lectures on groups and individual
education. The lectures are held every Thursday from two
to four. These programs are being repeated on a monthly
basis. In addition, breakfast and dinner sessions for
diabetics and exercise programs to test physical strength
are conducted at the center.
